Basic Training - June 13th thru 19th, 2009
Advanced #1 Training - June 22nd thru 27th, 2009

These comprehensive seven-day training programs provide the essential tools for teaching Yoga to infants and children with special needs. Using hands-on and video instruction, Ms Sumar guides course participants through each stage of the special child's development. how to evaluate infants and children how to create the optimum home environment how to work with specific syndromes and disorders.

The Basic program certifies you to teach Yoga for the Special Child program to all children, both those with special needs and typically developing, and to adults with special needs.

Both these programs offer a unique learning environment for children, their parents, and special education teachers. It is also appropriate for the continuing education of health care specialists in a variety of fields, including physical therapy, occupations therapy and pediatric and rehabilitation nursing.

After attending Advanced Trainings #1, #2, #3 and #4 you will have a Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher designation in a 200 hour program which meets the accreditation standards of the International Yoga Teachers Association. Whether you plan to teach at this level or not, I can tell you from my own experience that the Advanced programs deepened my personal practice to new levels, and I started training with Sonia after more than 25 years of personal practice. I started with Sonia in 1999, and continue to train with her every year to keep my own practice growing, as well as my teaching.
