Kathleen RandolphKATHY RANDOLPH: Co-creator of The Yoga Center Reno, Kathy has been teaching since 1997 and certified since 1999 with Yoga for the Special Child™, a therapeutic program of yoga techniques designed to increase cognitive and motor skill in children with developmental delays. Kathy continues her training with Sonia Sumar and has her Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher License with Yoga for the Special Child. Her training includes yoga for people with special needs such as arthritis, scleroderma, raynaud's and dystonia . She teaches the science of Hatha Yoga, which include asanas (postures), pranayama (energy control through breath techniques) and vinyasa (a flowing series of postures linked by breath) to bring the body, breath and mind into balance in preparation for meditation. Kathy also teaches group classes for adults with developmental delay and special needs at Washoe Arc and in group homes. Call for information on private instruction.

BOB FULKERSON: is a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour training level. He has practiced yoga since 1982 and in 2002 attended a month-long Yoga teacher training at Ananda in Nevada City, CA. His classes focus on improving breathing, muscle flexibility and lung capacity. Introduction to Yoga, which covers yoga fundamentals for beginners, and is also a traditional Hatha Yoga class.

BARBARA JONES: Barb is a Certified Practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child™. She received her training from Sonia Sumar, the founder and director of this comprehensive program of Yoga techniques designed to enhance motor and cognitive development of children with special needs. As a pediatric occupational therapist, Barb has worked with children who have special needs for over 20 years. Her experience has included treating infants in early intervention, working with elementary aged children in the school system, and working with children of all ages in pediatric rehabilitation. She looks forward to using Yoga to help children develop all aspects of their lives. Barb offers private classes in Incline Village and the surrounding communities.

NORA BEHRENS: Nora is a Certified Practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child, and trained with Sonia Sumar, the creator of the program. Nora was joined in her training by her son Bryan. Nora is the founder of the Cerebral Palsy Family Support Group in Incline Village and enjoys sharing her experiences with other families.

KIM ALLCOCK began practicing yoga in 2002 when pregnant with her first child. Now as the mother of three, she knows from experience that the postures, breathing, and meditation of yoga are ideal preparation for birth and motherhood. Through the years Kim's personal practice has encompassed athletic vinyasa, pre-and post-natal yoga, and the spontaneity of sharing yoga with her children. She completed a 200-hour instructor training with Kimberlee Orenstein of Yoga Loka in 2005, and prenatal yoga teacher training with Deborah Jordan in Grass Valley CA in 2008. Her classes integrate breath and body mindfulness, postural alignment, and yoga philosophy in a flowing and exuberant practice. She delights in sharing her love of yoga with students of all levels and is unceasingly grateful for their wisdom and energy. She also teaches prenatal yoga and vinyasa at Reno's Yoga Loka. NOTE: Pre-registration is required and is due on the first class of the month. If you join the class or deliver your baby mid-month your payment will be appropriately pro-rated.

MARY LOU URRUTIA: is a Certified Practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child™ who trains directly with Sonia Sumar, creator of Yoga for the Special Child™. This program is an integrated system of yoga poses designed to increase motor skills, strength, balance, and coordination in typically-developing children and children with a diagnosis. Mary Lou is fluent in Spanish and offers classes in English and/or Spanish. Mary Lou also teaches Yoga for the Special Child™ for teens in the Life Skills classroom at Reno High School. TERRIE VELASQUEZ: Terrie began practicing Kundalini Yoga in 2005 and from her first class immediately knew that she had found something very special. The combination of specific yoga postures, pranayama, mantra and meditation create a unique and powerful experience designed to heal the physical body and elevate the mind! LISA DALBERG: An inspirational teacher for over 33 years, Lisa has a degree in health education and also advanced training in therapeutic movement and breathing. LISA EVERETT-BRIDGEWATER: has been a licensed physical therapist since 1981, working with clients at all stages of life, in a variety of rehabilitation settings. She has also been a pediatric physical therapist at NEIS with 22 years of experience working with children with special needs. As a certified practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child she received training directly from Sonia Sumar, a world-renowned yoga instructor and creator of Yoga for the Special Child. This program is an integrated system of yoga poses designed to increase motor skills, strength, balance, and coordination in typically-developing children and children with a diagnosis. She has recently completed the 200 hour certification for a Registered Yoga Teacher for adults, and is an active member of The International Assoc. of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). JOHANNA MCCLAIN: Johanna teaches Hatha Yoga Level One / Beginning Yoga for students that are looking for a safe compassionate introduction to yoga. This class is ideal for students who think that yoga is unavailable to them and students that are mature in age; but is open to all students. Because of the training I have had the inspiration for this class comes from a system of yoga founded by John Friend that is called Anusara Yoga. Anusara (A-NU-SAR-A) means “flowing with Grace”, “following your heart”. All hearts are welcome. Johanna is also a Certified Business Coach.

LILLY WATERS: Lilly is a Certified Practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child™. She received her training from Sonia Sumar, the founder this Yoga program designed to enhance the motor and cognitive development of children with special needs. Lilly and her daughter Abby began their practice of Yoga for the Special Child with Kathy Randolph when Abby was 6 months old. Her experience as the mother of a child with special needs, participating in private, group and family classes (her husband and five other children also support and participate) for more than three years, gives her a unique understanding of the needs of both children and families. Lilly also teaches classes for adults with special needs at High Sierra Industries.

MONICA LIMON, RYT: In 1999 Monica, the always on-the-go career gal and avid runner, discovered yoga and began practicing Ashtanga yoga to add more strength and flexibility to her workouts but earnestly learned that yoga offers more than just strengthening the physical body. Monica nurtures her yoga path by practicing mindfulness, compassion and loving-kindness. She teaches yoga for kids, teens, adults and yoga for fertility - encouraging us all to move our bodies, to breathe in life and to sit with calmness. She is a certified kids yoga teacher and completed her 200 hour advanced study/teacher training program with Kim Orenstein in May 2011.

ANGELA SULLIVAN: Co-creator of The Yoga Center Reno, Angela began practicing yoga in 1989 as a means of healing her body after 17 years of classical dance training and a series of automobile accidents. Her beginning, intermediate and advanced yoga classes focus on breathing, alignment and balance, encouraging students to trust their own instincts and inner knowing to develop a personal daily practice.
